The city of Norfolk is located at the center of Hampton Roads area, in between the Chesapeake Bay and the Elizabeth River. Established as a city in 1736, the city of Norfolk is currently Virginia’s second-largest city.  Norfolk  serves as a great industrial and commercial center, with a huge role in defense contracting, specifically in the the shipbuilding and ship repair businesses, is home to the Virginia Port Authority (VPA) which owns and operates three major port for break-bulk and container type cargo, and is known for being a major military center for the United States Navy, serving as the home for Naval Station Norfolk, the world’s largest naval station. In addition, Norfolk has ample shopping options, including the Macarthur Mall and boutiques in Ghent/Granby Street, tons of great restaurants and coffee shops and a booming nightlife, so it is no surprise that it is considered to be the heart of Hampton Roads offering lots of history and culture to its residents.

One of the many things that makes Norfolk such a fabulous place to live is that it has a great deal of entertainment options to choose from! You can spend the day visiting the historic downtown area, stop by the General Douglas MacArthur Memorial, tour the USS Wisconsin or catch one of the many yearly festivals and parades that occurs at Town Pointe Park!  Also, sports lovers will definitely want to catch a Tides baseball game, a Norfolk Admirals hockey game or see Norfolk’s favorite college basketball team, Old Dominion play. If you love music and the arts, there are many great shows to see at Chrysler Hall or at the new Wireless Pavillion! For those interested in the outdoors, you must see the breathtaking Norfolk Botanical Gardens or see the animals at the Virginia Zoo.
